Gorillaz – The Fall
by Todd on Apr.19, 2011, under Music/Artist Review
The mysterious Gorillaz anima team is at it again with their new album title “The Fall.” The album is following the commercial release of Plastic Beach and the web only album produced completely on an iPad. With the quick back to back of these albums you would expect the quality to drop but it hasn’t. I will say this album is much more subdued than the last two but still quintessential Gorillaz. The album cover might give you an insight as to how the album was created. The band is well know for creating new music anywhere any time and a hotel on tour wouldn’t be a stretch. “The Fall” has some just instrumental tracks that are great to just kick back with. Other tracks have great driving beats and lyrics. One thing I caught listening to the album is their three track adventure in Texas. The tracks The Parish of Space Dust, The Snake in Dallas and Amarillo all center around Texas. With as secretive as the group is; they my have taken up residence here and felt like adding a tribute to their new home state. Aspen Forest sounds like another iPad or iPhone created track that you will love. Regardless of your opinion of the band they make great music and this is another great album. You can pick the album up in iTunes or Amazon today.
Jamaica – No Problem

Let’s just start this post the way it needs to…YOU WILL LOVE EVERY SECOND OF THIS ALBUM! Just buy it and tell me I’m wrong. Do you know why I make that statement because you won’t. When I first heard the name Jamaica not knowing the group I thought what you did…reggae. Jamaica is an amazing new band from France that you will never believe is from France. Their rock/funk style reminiscent of 80′s rock bands will have you pumping your fist like a rock star and dance at the same time. The band’s high energy song combined with fun lyrics make them unstoppable. The bands new album “No Problem” comes out tomorrow and is nothing short of a perfect album. The album is no stop fun from beginning to end and you’ll love it.
Youth Sounds – Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
by Todd on Apr.07, 2011, under Music/Artist Review
New Orleans born band Youth Sound has hit the ground running with a great new EP titled “Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow.” The quartet is lead by brother and sister due Erika Mejia and Frederico Mejia on vocals and piano. The group is rounded out with another set of great musicians Adrian Frye and Taryn Mejia. Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow is the band second EP and is even better than the first. The group continues to refine its unique Indie Dance style and sound. Not sure if dance indie is how they would classifie themselves but that’s the vibe I get listening to the album. You hear hints of Arcade Fire and Interpol in the band’s sound but making it their own. Erika’s voice at first reaction reminds me of Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs but with more control. With only two albums under their belt the group has a very attractive sound and great future. The attraction starts with It’s Hell and every track after makes you want more. I highly suggest picking up this EP for any avid music lover.
