Debut Album from Afterlife Parade – “Death” reviewed

by on Mar.24, 2011, under Music/Artist Review

I started listening to Afterlife Parade last night as I was getting ready for bed. What I found was a great new artist with a great sound. The group was formed from the usual fall from grace of trying to make it in the music industry. Singer/songwriter Quinn Erwin is a seasoned veteran of the music industry and has embarked on a new journey with this album. He is exploring the idea of “Death” not as an ending but a beginning to something new and different. The album is one of two albums with the second one coming out summer 2011. The second album is aptly titled “Rebirth” and will explore the other end of the spectrum.

Death, as an EP, is deep, dark and atmospheric,” Erwin says. “Rebirth is the exact opposite – it’s upbeat, percussive and a bit electronic.”

The song Death shows off Quinn’s amazingly ethereal voice with a country rock feel. Death is by far my favorite track on the album and is the reason for it being the title track. Nothing But Love Can Stay is a more relaxed song with great radio potential. His duet with Tianna Calcagno really pulls at the emotions and makes you want more. The album is available for purchase in iTunes.
