Olin and The Moon – Footsteps
by Todd on Feb.24, 2011, under Music/Artist Review
I’ve been listening to the new album from Olin and The Moon titled Footsteps for about 3 days now. Listening to make sure I bring in the full spectrum of what this group has to offer. The group is the bridge between three different musical styles. but not one genera sticks out. The music has a very distinct Country sound but the lyrics are Folk/Indie. The ensemble is made of five members which bring their own uniqueness to the band. Brothers David and Travis LaBrel with drummer Marshall Vore made up the original core of the band. The bands roots are in Idaho bu they moved to L.A. to make it big. After moving to L.A. the band add Brian McGinnis and Kyle Vicioso to create the final lineup of Olin and the Moon. Reading their back ground reminds me of the Troubadours and Trouvère coming together to exchange stores. When you hear the album you do not think L.A. but the bands simple but heartfelt lyrics let you know they are hear to make a name. Songs like Not in Love are picturesque in the way they tell each part of the store. It makes you feel like you’re living each section of the song writers emotions. Great album to put on during a rainy day and just relax. If you read our site regularly you’ve noticed we just don’t review albums we don’t like. You will really like the way this album fits together not only as a cd but in your musical collection.
If you are in these areas check them out in concert and send us pictures.

Lights Over Paris – Turn Off The Lights
by Todd on Feb.17, 2011, under Music/Artist Review, Review Rewind
Lights Over Paris was brought to my attention by one of their many loyal and intense fans. What began as a simple suggestion turned out to be pop/rock gold. LOP, as their fans call them, is a band that is definitely worth keeping an eye on. I got a hold of their EP titled Turn Off The Lights and couldn’t stop listening. The songs hit just the right points to make you want more. The first track, Turn Off The Lights, is their YouTube/MTV signature music video. It has a great chorus that will have you singing along in no time. Melody is the second track with some really great synth/keyboard playing. Next, the band throws a curve ball with the third track, a dance rock track titled Medicine. I look forward to hearing great dance remixes of this song provided by the band’s own DJ Shiny, who is also the resident DJ at The Standard Purple Lounge on Sunset in Hollywood. Then, we get to the meat of the EP with the fourth song Lime Light Girl. The song is a full on hard rock song with great riffs. I really enjoyed the Slash‘esque guitar solo that has me pumping the devil horns. We round out the EP with Rescue Me, a pop/power ballad style song. The song was inspired by the show of the same name featuring Denis Leary. They have a new single coming out next month titled I’m Not A Gangsta followed by the full length album this spring. The EP is a must have for any music collection. Sniper Rifle Music is working on a possible interview with this electrifying band. What are you waiting for, go to iTunes or Amazon right now and buy this album!
Dev – Interview
by Todd on Feb.12, 2011, under Interview
I really thought this post would never happen but it finally did. About 2 weeks ago I received and email asking if we’d like to attend a Super Bowl party. The party was a performance by LMFAO, Far East Movement and Dev. The great part of about this party was the opportunity to have a face to face interview with Dev. If you are in Dallas or came to Dallas for the Super Bowl it was Snowmageddon 2011. We decided to reschedule it for a later date over the phone and here is the audio. I’m a fan for life after having this and you will be too. You guys have to listen to how awesome Dev is in the interview.
