Check the bands website or SXSW site for details. David was amazingly easy to talk with and we hope you enjoy our interview.

Olin and The Moon – Footsteps

by on Feb.24, 2011, under Music/Artist Review

I’ve been listening to the new album from Olin and The Moon titled Footsteps for about 3 days now. Listening to make sure I bring in the full spectrum of what this group has to offer. The group is the bridge between three different musical styles. but not one genera sticks out. The music has a very distinct Country sound but the lyrics are Folk/Indie. The ensemble is made of five members which bring their own uniqueness to the band. Brothers David and Travis LaBrel  with drummer Marshall Vore made up the original core of the band. The bands roots are in Idaho bu they moved to L.A. to make it big. After moving to L.A. the band add Brian McGinnis and Kyle Vicioso to create the final lineup of Olin and the Moon. Reading their back ground reminds me of the Troubadours and Trouvère coming together to exchange stores. When you hear the album you do not think L.A. but the bands simple but heartfelt lyrics let you know they are hear to make a name. Songs like Not in Love are picturesque in the way they tell each part of the store. It makes you feel like you’re living each section of the song writers emotions. Great album to put on during a rainy day and just relax. If you read our site regularly you’ve noticed we just don’t review albums we don’t like. You will really like the way this album fits together not only as a cd but in your musical collection.

If you are in these areas check them out in concert and send us pictures.

Dev – Interview

by on Feb.12, 2011, under Interview

I really thought this post would never happen but it finally did. About 2 weeks ago I received and email asking if we’d like to attend a Super Bowl party. The party was a performance by LMFAO, Far East Movement and Dev. The great part of about this party was the opportunity to have a face to face interview with Dev. If you are in Dallas or came to Dallas for the Super Bowl it was Snowmageddon 2011. We decided to reschedule it for a later date over the phone and here is the audio. I’m a fan for life after having this and you will be too. You guys have to listen to how awesome Dev is in the interview.

The Envy – New EP

by on Jan.21, 2011, under Music News, Music/Artist Review

Every so often a band comes along that you just know will be big and The Envy is one of those bands. I recently saw them in concert as an opening band for KISS and was blown away. I was so impressed that while I was watching I posted a review of their concert. The Envy performs as if they are the headlining band which is what they truly are. The band just started a new tour so check their site for details. Their three track EP is available on iTunes only in Canada and US currently but will be available for other countries soon. The album is amazingly well written, produced and performed. The band has been signed to Gene Simmons’ label, Simmonsrecords, and are working hard on their first full length album. The album is due out fall of 2011 but could be as early as summer. I guess until then we will have to hold on to this small piece of gold. The album is only $1.49 in iTunes and after you hear it you’ll understand why I can’t get enough of this band.

If you get the album please leave us a comment about what you thought.
